How is the course structured?
- It is a three-module series:
- Module 1: Introduction to Networks
- Module 2: Switching, Routing and Wireless Essentials

What is the entry requirement?
- All registered DeKUT students enrolled in any diploma or undergraduate course are eligible.
- A student needs to have completed KCSE enrol for the course.
What is the mode of learning?
- The course is online every weekday, Tuesday to Thursday, 5.30 to 6.30 PM.
- A student must have access to a laptop/PC and a reliable internet connection to attend class sessions and access course materials, practical assessments and examinations.
What is the cost of the programme?
- KES 18,000 – DeKUT students
- KES 22,500 – Non-DeKUT students

This three weeks short course programme seeks to equip trainees with appropriate attitude, practical and theoretical concepts, knowledge and competencies needed to professionally and successfully execute mountaineering and outdoor expeditions.
By the end of three weeks intensive training the trainee should be able to:
- Confidently initiate and guide mountaineering and outdoor expedition;
- Evaluate, reduce and avoid hazards;
- Professionally guide tourists/guests and market tour guiding services;
- Provide basic Wilderness First Aid in the event of an emergence during mountaineering and outdoor activities expedition;
- Promote responsible mountaineering and outdoor activities;
- Plan, implement and evaluate mountaineering and outdoor activities.
Course Requirements
- Be a holder of KCSE certificate with a minimum aggregate of D- and a minimum of D- in English and/ or Kiswahili.
Or - Any person who is engaged in mountaineering and expedition guiding (this includes the expedition crew) ready and comfortable to learn in English.
