The Visit of France Ambassador to DeKUT: A Momentous Occasion Strengthening Ties and Celebrating Academic Excellence

The Visit of France Ambassador to DeKUT

DeKUT was honoured to welcome the French Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Arnaud Suquet, along with his counterpart, Mathieu Guérin, PhD, Attaché for Science and Higher Education, Deputy Head of Cooperation, Ambassade de France à Nairobi, in a visit that underscored the robust and growing relationship between Kenyan and French academic institutions. Their visit to DeKUT's Centres of Excellence allowed them to interact with current students and alums of French Universities, fostering a spirit of international collaboration and mutual growth.

During their visit, Ambassador Suquet and Mathieu Guérin, PhD, engaged in meaningful discussions with DeKUT representatives about potential areas for collaboration and partnerships between DeKUT and French Universities. These discussions focused on exchange programs, joint research initiatives, and other forms of academic cooperation that promise to enrich the educational experiences of students and faculty from both countries.

A highlight of the visit was the ceremonial awarding of the medal of the ‘Knight in the Order of the Palmes Académiques’ to Prof. Jean Byiringiro Bosco, the Director of Siemens Mechatronics Certification Centre at DeKUT. This prestigious honour, bestowed by Ambassador Suquet, recognizes Prof. Bosco's significant contributions to academic excellence and his efforts in fostering educational links between Kenya and France.

DeKUT's proactive role in academic collaboration, DeKUT proudly announces the graduation of seven (7) PhD students, seventeen (17) master's students, and six (6) interns in the School of Engineering, all through exchange programs with French Universities. Additionally, five (5) PhD students in Computer Science and Information Technology (CS&IT) have benefitted from these international partnerships, demonstrating the University's commitment to academic exchange.

This visit marks another step in deepening academic and cultural ties between Kenya and France. As DeKUT continues to build on these relationships, the future looks bright for further education, research, and innovation advancements.
